Persistent insecurity in Plateau State continues to impose a significant, hidden ‘security tax’ on agribusinesses, complicating operations and eroding long-term investor confidence. While the state government aims to boost revenue and provide credit facilities, businesses remain burdened by structural inefficiencies, including disrupted farm-to-market logistics and restricted land access for farmers. The author calls for dedicated policy frameworks that prioritize the protection of commercial corridors and provide tailored insurance for small and mid-sized operators to revitalize the local economy.
