NPA Secures Funding for $1bn Port Modernization Program

The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has secured funding and completed site preparations for a $1 billion modernization program for Apapa and Tin Can Island ports. The four-year project, supported by a £746 million UK Export Finance agreement, aims to address aging infrastructure and increase capacity. In the interim, the NPA has deployed the Port Community System and National Single Window to streamline trade, alongside a multi-agency task force to mitigate ongoing congestion and extortion at Lagos port access points. Groundbreaking is expected within weeks.
