Experts are urging African nations to integrate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles into maritime development to attract global capital. Felicia Mogo, President of the African Maritime Environment and Sustainability Initiative, warned that sustainable investment in the Blue Economy depends on bankable, eco-responsible projects rather than resource abundance alone. An upcoming October workshop in Accra aims to help stakeholders transition from theoretical discussions to developing commercially viable, ESG-aligned maritime business models.
