President Bola Tinubu has directed the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to immediately vacate a court order freezing Osun State Government bank accounts. The President expressed concern over the timing of the freeze, noting it occurred shortly before the state’s upcoming governorship election, which could create the impression of federal political interference. The EFCC had initially justified the action by citing investigations into the alleged fraudulent movement of N11 billion in state funds. President Tinubu emphasized that while law enforcement agencies must act independently, maintaining public confidence in the democratic process remains paramount.
