The National Association of Telecommunications Subscribers (NATCOMS) has issued an ultimatum to telecommunications operators, demanding significant improvements in network quality by the end of September. NATCOMS President Deolu Ogunbanjo warned that subscribers are prepared to seek legal redress if the persistent issues of dropped calls and poor data connectivity remain unresolved. This demand follows rising concerns over the efficacy of recent capital investments, despite industry projections of 1.86 trillion Naira in infrastructure spending for 2026. While the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has implemented compensation schemes for verified service failures, industry stakeholders highlight that infrastructure vandalism and surging data traffic continue to strain network capacity.
