Nigeria’s pension sector has experienced a substantial surge, with quarterly contributions rising by 439 percent from N167.7 billion in late 2020 to N903.7 billion by the fourth quarter of 2025. Data reveals a growing disparity between sectors, as public sector contributions rose to N550.96 billion, accounting for 61 percent of the total, while private sector contributions reached N352.74 billion. While this influx of capital signals a larger financial cushion for future retirees, experts emphasize that long-term security depends on consistent remittance, prudent investment management, and the ability of funds to hedge against inflationary pressures.
