Tinubu Calls for Structured Diaspora Investment Beyond Remittances

President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians in the diaspora to shift their focus from simple remittances to structured investments in the country. Speaking at the Nigeria Diaspora Economic Conference in Toronto, the President advocated for the formation of professionally managed investment clubs, venture networks, and sector-specific funds.

The administration highlighted improved macroeconomic indicators, including a 3.89 percent GDP growth in the first quarter of 2026 and easing inflation, as evidence of a recovering economy. To facilitate this shift, the government reiterated its commitment to providing predictable regulatory frameworks and accessible financial instruments, such as non-resident investment accounts, to protect and encourage diaspora capital inflows.
