The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has demanded that the Federal Government honour the December 2025 agreement and release withheld salaries for its members. Union President Christopher Piwuna stated that implementing these outstanding commitments is essential to restoring industrial harmony and enabling effective research and teaching in public universities. Beyond welfare issues, the union criticized current economic policies, urging the government to prioritize domestic production and agricultural development over reliance on foreign-dictated financial strategies.
