Lagos remains the epicenter of Nigeria’s rental property demand, driven by rapid urbanization and its status as the nation’s primary economic hub. With a metro population exceeding 20 million and daily net migration of approximately 3,000 individuals, the state faces a housing deficit estimated at over 3.3 million units. Approximately 80 percent of Lagos residents live in rented accommodation. In response, the Lagos State government has increased its housing stock by 10,623 units over the last seven years through direct funding and public-private partnerships, with several projects scheduled for completion through 2026.
