CBN Survey Highlights Persistent Operational Challenges for Nigerian Businesses

The Central Bank of Nigeria’s July 2026 Business Expectations Survey reveals that Nigerian firms remain under pressure, with the Business Confidence Index stalling at 5.7 points. The primary constraints cited by surveyed businesses include multiple taxation, insecurity, and high interest rates. While current sentiment is weak, firms remain optimistic about future expansion, with confidence expected to rise significantly over the next six months. Capacity utilization saw a slight increase to 55.9 percent, though financing conditions continue to limit growth.
