The Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals is preparing for an Initial Public Offering (IPO) expected in September, potentially marking the largest equity offering in African history. The listing is set to be a major test for NGX Invest, the digital platform developed by NGX Group. Following the success of recent banking sector recapitalisations, which mobilised N4.65 trillion, regulators and the company aim to use the platform to democratise wealth by enabling large-scale retail participation. The refinery’s management intends to float 5 to 10 percent of its equity, targeting a model that balances institutional investment with broad-based domestic ownership to support Nigeria’s industrial growth.
