CPPE Warns Against Reversing Economic Reforms, Urges Focus on Productivity

The Centre for the Promotion of Private Enterprise (CPPE) has cautioned the Federal Government against reversing ongoing economic reforms, warning that such a move would undermine investor confidence and threaten fiscal stability. In a statement by its CEO, Muda Yusuf, the advocacy group stressed that while reforms must be sustained, the administration must refine implementation to address the burden on businesses and households. The CPPE urged a shift in policy focus from mere macroeconomic stabilisation to fostering productivity, job creation, and tangible improvements in living standards. This follows recent government disclosures showing that debt servicing consumed nearly 35% of incremental federal expenditure between June 2023 and December 2025.
