Peter Obi Unveils Regional Economic Strategy for 2027 Campaign

Peter Obi, presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has unveiled a regional economic strategy for Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections. The plan emphasizes a transition from a consumption-driven economy to one focused on production, processing, and investment by leveraging regional comparative advantages. Obi highlighted key areas for growth, including agriculture and manufacturing in the North-West, reconstruction and trade in the North-East, and industrial expansion in the South-West and South-East. He also proposed enhancing oil and gas value in the South-South and prioritizing urban planning in the Federal Capital Territory. The strategy includes a commitment to fiscal discipline, aiming to cut wasteful government spending while directing resources toward infrastructure, education, and security to boost productive capacity.
