President Bola Tinubu has announced that Nigerians should expect reduced public transport costs starting October 1, 2026. This initiative stems from a collaborative agreement between the federal and state governments to leverage the cost-efficiency of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and electric vehicles. To support this, the government is accelerating infrastructure development, with plans to roll out 1,000 CNG refueling stations nationwide. The President emphasized that while the federal government is scaling up CNG conversion efforts, state governments will play a primary role in implementing localized measures to ease transport burdens on citizens.
