The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) aggressively managed system liquidity between August 26 and 27, 2026, withdrawing N4.72 trillion through Open Market Operations (OMO). Despite N4.3 trillion in maturing securities injections and significant primary market activity, the apex bank achieved a net liquidity withdrawal of approximately N1.185 trillion. Investor appetite remained robust, with subscriptions reaching N8.62 trillion against an advertised offer of N2.0 trillion. Yields for the auctioned instruments ranged from 19.32% to 19.90%. Notwithstanding these mop-ups, banking system liquidity remained high, with N3.42 trillion parked in the Standing Deposit Facility as of August 28.
