The Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA) is pivoting its infrastructure strategy to prioritize digital foundations, moving beyond traditional physical assets like roads and bridges. Central to this shift is the development of the KASI Hyperscale Data Centre in Lagos, which aims for a 100-megawatt capacity to serve as an AI-ready computing hub. This initiative seeks to bolster data sovereignty, reduce foreign exchange exposure by localizing digital services, and provide the necessary infrastructure for Nigeria’s expanding fintech, healthcare, and agricultural sectors. Beyond the data centre, the NSIA is supporting the ecosystem through the NSIA Prize for Innovation and a 50 million dollar impact fund in partnership with the Japan International Cooperation Agency. The success of this digital strategy remains contingent on Nigeria addressing critical power and connectivity deficits.
