Nigeria’s Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) stock levels dropped to 16.3 days of sufficiency in July 2026, marking a 46% deficit against the 30-day minimum threshold mandated by the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA). Despite this, daily domestic supply increased to 4.4 kilotonnes, compensating for reduced imports. While national consumption of 4.4 kilotonnes per day currently exceeds the regulatory demand benchmark of 3.9 kilotonnes, the low stock levels raise concerns over long-term price stability and availability. NMDPRA is reportedly working to redirect gas exports toward the domestic market to bridge a projected third-quarter supply gap of 165,000 metric tonnes.
