FG Transfers Inland Dry Port Functions to NPA

The Federal Government has directed the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to assume control of Inland Dry Port (IDP) functions, previously managed by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC). This move, announced by the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, follows the enactment of the Nigeria Ports Economic Regulatory Agency (NPERA) Act, 2026. The restructuring aims to separate regulatory duties from operational activities, allowing the newly forming NPERA to focus on economic regulation while the NPA integrates dry ports into the national port infrastructure. A ministerial committee has been established to manage the transition and redistribute functions.
