Uber Exits Nigeria and Uganda to Prioritize Global Autonomous Expansion

Uber has officially exited the Nigerian and Ugandan markets, citing a strategic review to focus investments on regions offering greater scale and value. The exit highlights the growing challenges multinational firms face in Nigeria, where high inflation, currency volatility, and diminished consumer purchasing power have strained business models. While retreating from Africa, Uber is simultaneously scaling its global autonomous vehicle strategy, launching AI-powered robotaxi services in London via a partnership with British startup Wayve.
