The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) is exploring additive manufacturing, commonly known as 3D printing, to bolster industrial resilience. By collaborating with Arridex’s Omnifactory in Lagos, MAN aims to identify and produce essential industrial components locally. This initiative seeks to reduce dependence on expensive, imported spare parts that often lead to prolonged production downtime due to foreign exchange shortages and supply chain disruptions. Experts emphasize that long-term success depends on establishing rigorous testing standards, building technical expertise, and fostering a supportive ecosystem rather than just showcasing technology. The project is seen as a strategic move toward enhancing manufacturing self-reliance and operational stability.
