Nigeria’s Q2 2026 Agricultural Exports Hit N747.5 Billion amid High Volatility

Nigeria’s top 10 agricultural exports generated N747.54 billion in the second quarter of 2026, marking a 34.8% decline from the previous quarter. Cashew nuts in shell emerged as the leading export at N268.62 billion, followed by standard quality cocoa beans at N154.31 billion and sesamum seeds at N96.03 billion. The quarter saw significant volatility in cocoa exports, with superior quality cocoa bean earnings dropping sharply from their first-quarter levels. Overall, the data reveals a high concentration of export earnings, with the top three commodities accounting for approximately 69.4% of total top-tier agricultural exports. This heavy reliance on a few crops underscores risks related to market price fluctuations and production volume changes.
