Investors showed strong appetite for Central Bank of Nigeria OMO bills on Tuesday, with subscription levels reaching N6.31 trillion—more than six times the N1 trillion offered. The CBN allotted approximately N4.4 trillion across three tenors. Notably, yields have continued to trend downward, with the 154-day bill clearing at a true yield of 19.96 percent, down from 20.64 percent in the previous auction. Analysts attribute the high demand despite falling yields to significant liquidity in the banking system from maturing securities and coupon payments. The CBN’s recent decision to expand OMO access to include individuals and corporates is also helping to deepen the market and manage system liquidity.
