The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has officially confirmed the deaths of all 25 people on board an ATR-42 aircraft, identified as NAF 931, which crashed in Igbokoda, Ondo State, on Monday. The aircraft was on a routine flight from Benin to Lagos when it went down. The NAF has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the cause of the accident, while President Bola Tinubu has declared three days of national mourning with flags flying at half-mast. Meanwhile, political groups, including the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation, have called for an audit of defence spending and a thorough inquiry into the maintenance of military equipment, following reports of low budget implementation for aircraft maintenance.
