Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Olayemi Cardoso has launched a strategic push to deepen ties between Nigeria and Asian financial markets. During a series of engagements in Singapore, the Governor met with the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) and signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) to foster financial innovation.
At the Nigeria-Asia Financial Connectivity Dialogue, organized alongside the NGX Group and FMDQ, Cardoso emphasized that recent monetary reforms aim to stabilize the foreign exchange market and build the institutional trust necessary for long-term capital inflow. The governor highlighted that the initiative seeks to improve payment settlement channels and strengthen relationships between Nigerian and Asian financial institutions, with further expansion planned for Beijing.
