The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has released draft regulations aimed at curbing anti-competitive behavior in the petroleum sector. The proposed rules seek to ban price-fixing, supply restrictions, and market-sharing agreements among industry operators. This move follows recent industry allegations of coordinated fuel pricing. The NMDPRA has invited stakeholders to submit comments within 21 days and scheduled a consultation forum for September 22, 2026, in Abuja.
