Nasarawa Balances Revenue Growth with Private Sector Incentives

Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has highlighted the delicate balance between boosting internal revenue and supporting private sector growth. While maintaining opposition to aggressive tax hikes, the state is focusing on expanding its tax base by formalizing sectors like artisanal mining and attracting industrial investment. Governor Sule reported a significant increase in monthly Federation Account allocations following subsidy reforms, enabling the state to fund infrastructure projects without commercial borrowing. With a 2026 revenue target of N60 billion, the state aims to drive growth through investment in agriculture and solid minerals, emphasizing that sustainable tax administration relies on transparent governance and infrastructure development that lowers operating costs for businesses.
