The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has formally rejected the state government’s newly introduced campaign signage and promotional material fees. The party characterized the levies, which include a N150 million charge for presidential candidates and N50 million for senatorial hopefuls, as excessive and a threat to democratic participation. PDP State Chairman Mohammed Gambo argued that the fees violate electoral spending limits and infringe upon constitutional rights to freedom of expression and political association. The party is calling for an immediate review of the policy to ensure a level playing field for all political actors.
