The Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) plans to deploy artificial intelligence-enabled monitoring systems to improve oversight and reduce Aggregate Technical, Commercial, and Collection (ATC&C) losses to below 10%.
LASERC Chief Executive Officer, Temitope George, stated that the commission is focused on achieving universal metering and enforcing a 12-month limit on electricity charge recovery. Billing-related grievances currently account for nearly half of all consumer complaints, and the regulator is prioritizing stricter performance standards and licensee accountability to foster a more reliable and competitive electricity market.
