Vice President Kashim Shettima has directed the Presidential Food Systems Coordinating Unit to ensure greater accountability and visibility for major agricultural interventions. During the committee’s seventh meeting in Abuja, the Vice President emphasized the need for measurable outcomes from the 500 million dollar Nigeria Sustainable Agricultural Value-Chains for Growth programme. The committee is currently focusing on improving domestic food production, optimizing logistics between farming and consuming regions, and aligning trade policies to lower food costs. Finance Minister Taiwo Oyedele added that trade and domestic production policies must be synchronized to support local agribusinesses while addressing supply gaps.
