A new report by technology firm Check titled The Cost of an Unseen Investor suggests that Nigeria’s capital market can significantly deepen retail participation by prioritising user experience over product variety. The report argues that for the industry to reach millions of underserved Nigerians, platforms must move beyond simple transactions and integrate investing into daily financial routines. Stakeholders, including representatives from the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), emphasized that simplifying the customer journey, reducing process friction, and incorporating social features are essential steps to building trust and driving sustained market engagement. The findings highlight the need for a shift from product-led strategies to customer-centric designs that make investing as accessible and intuitive as everyday digital banking.
