Nigeria has recorded the fastest growth in scheduled airline seat capacity in Africa for September 2026, with capacity rising 37.4% year-on-year to 1.19 million seats. This surge is attributed to currency reforms, improved aircraft leasing access, and increased airline confidence. Notable highlights include Air Peace returning to Africa’s top 10 airlines with a 54.7% capacity growth, and Ethiopian Airlines expanding its Nigerian operations to 53 weekly flights, including new service to Port Harcourt. Across the continent, total scheduled seat capacity reached 25.8 million, a 9.4% increase from the previous year.
