The World Bank has revised its 2026 economic growth forecast for Sub-Saharan Africa upwards to 4.3%, a 0.3 percentage point increase from its April projection. The lender credits this improved outlook to stronger macroeconomic management and resilient domestic demand across the region, despite ongoing global geopolitical and fiscal challenges. Nigeria is among the economies receiving an upgraded forecast, with the bank now projecting 4.3% growth for the country in 2026, following a 4.43% year-on-year GDP expansion in the second quarter. While the regional momentum is positive, the World Bank cautioned that current growth rates remain insufficient to significantly reduce poverty or meet labor force demands.
