IMF Emphasizes Tax Reform Gains as Nigeria Adapts to New Compliance Landscape

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has highlighted that implementing robust anti-tax avoidance measures can significantly boost revenue for emerging economies by curbing profit shifting. In its latest World Economic Outlook, the Fund noted that global tax competition is shifting, as international reforms increasingly link reported corporate profits to actual investment locations. These insights come as Nigeria continues to navigate its own tax reform landscape following the January 2026 enactment of the Nigeria Tax Act. Advisories are increasingly deploying artificial intelligence tools to manage the administrative burden of these compliance requirements, helping businesses maintain accurate records to benefit from statutory exemptions and avoid penalties.
