Industry experts at a Nigerian-British Chamber of Commerce roundtable in Lagos have identified the efficiency of the food supply chain as the primary hurdle to achieving national food security. While noting that Nigeria’s agricultural potential remains vast, stakeholders argued that the country’s focus must shift from mere production to improving storage, processing, and logistics. Highlighting the need to transition smallholder farmers to commercial operations, speakers emphasized that inadequate infrastructure leads to significant post-harvest losses, hindering the sector’s ability to drive economic diversification and compete globally.
