Naira Strengthens to N1,331.50/$ Amid Stable Trading and Improved Economic Outlook

The Nigerian naira closed at N1,331.50 per dollar on October 6, 2026, marking a marginal appreciation of N1.40 from the previous session’s N1,332.90. Trading remained within a narrow range between N1,330 and N1,333 throughout the session. While the exchange rate has shown stability around the N1,330 level, daily market liquidity in the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) has remained volatile, with transaction volumes fluctuating significantly in recent sessions. The currency’s performance occurs against a backdrop of improved international economic sentiment, with the World Bank recently upgrading Nigeria’s 2026 growth forecast to 4.3% and S&P Global Ratings raising the country’s credit rating to ‘B’.
