The Lagos State Electricity Regulatory Commission (LASERC) is planning to scale electricity capacity in the Lekki corridor to between 2,500MW and 3,000MW to meet rising economic and development demand. This initiative coincides with ongoing transmission expansion projects by the FGN Power Company, which are prioritizing the Epe axis as part of a multi-phase infrastructure rollout.
Under the new regulatory framework established by the Electricity Act 2023 and the Lagos Electricity Law 2024, the state is actively decentralizing its power market. This push includes new private sector generation projects, such as those by Fenchurch Power, Elektron Energy, and Sahara Power, alongside LASERC’s implementation of AI-enabled monitoring systems designed to improve accountability, reduce technical losses, and enhance consumer protection across the state.
