The Dangote Group’s H1 2026 Economic Report warns that a strong US dollar, high global interest rates, and significant external debt are straining African economies. Energy-importing nations with high debt levels face increased fiscal and currency instability, while energy exporters with credible policies are better positioned. Despite financing hurdles, growth remains resilient in West and East Africa. The report notes the Nigerian Naira has appreciated 4% year-to-date, aided by reserve growth, while the Dangote Refinery supplied 50 million litres of petrol daily in H1 2026.
