The Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority has issued a 30-day ultimatum to mobile network operators and value-added service providers to verify the licensing and tax compliance of all gaming businesses operating on their platforms. Affected firms, including MTN and Airtel, must submit transaction records and revenue-sharing data from November 2024 onwards. The authority emphasized that an NCC license does not authorize gaming activities in Lagos and warned that both the companies and their directors could face penalties for facilitating unlicensed gaming. Operators must immediately cease services for businesses unable to prove valid state authorization.
